Advocacy & Research

At The Arthur Rank Centre, we believe that the voices of rural churches and communities matter.

Our advocacy and research work helps ensure that the unique opportunities and challenges of rural life are recognised in national conversations, church strategies, and public policy. We speak up for the rural church and farming communities, not from a distance, but with authenticity born of close relationships, shared stories, and lived experience.

Speaking Up for Rural Communities

We advocate on issues that directly affect rural people – from access to services and digital inclusion to mental health support and sustainable farming. Through regular engagement with partners, churches, charities and policymakers, we bring a grounded Christian voice to national discussions.

We are especially concerned with ensuring that rural churches are not overlooked in wider church planning, and that the needs and contributions of farming communities are better understood and supported.

Research That Makes a Difference

Our research is always practical. We ask questions that matter on the ground, listen carefully to what rural churches and communities are saying, and share the insights we gather.

We’re currently exploring:
  • The changing shape of rural ministry and leadership
  • How rural churches can best support farming families in times of crisis

We use the findings to inform our resources, shape our training, and influence national conversations. Our aim is to equip the rural church to thrive – not just survive – in changing times.
