Together Apart
A rural church response to coronavirus
Many churches (local, regional and national), organisations and individuals are producing resources which respond to the many challenges created by coronavirus. Here we have tried to highlight those we which feel have something particular to offer to rural churches, although we strongly believe they will be useful in any context.
We have tried to credit them appropriately wherever possible; please forgive us in those instances where we have failed!
If you have – or are aware of – any resources that you think we should add to this list, please email louise.davis@arthurrankcentre.org.uk.
Claire Maxim, our CEO, and Elizabeth Clark, National Rural Officer for the Methodist and United Reformed Churches, have written a series of short daily reflections for Holy Week.
This is our existing database of worship resources for rural churches. They have not been developed in response to coronavirus but many will be easy to adapt to changing circumstances.
These resources have been sent to us by rural churches who are happy to share! We are adding to this database all the time.
All the mainstream denominations have produced worship resources which respond to the challenges we’re facing together…

Church of England

CPO are building an ecumenical database of live-streamed services
The Gospel Hour (Revd Steve Oliver)
I broadcast an hour of modern worship music, hymns, chat, readings, poetry and the odd joke here and there at 10am every Sunday. It can be found online or on smart-speaker.
Rogation Sunday Service from Thurstable and Winstree Team Ministry
Virtual Walking Church for Rogation from Teme Valley Walking Church
A series of 10 minute sermons that can be used in online worship or Zoom groups from ReSource
I’ve started to live-stream Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer from my study via Facebook each day. I am amazed at who tunes in from the villages who never come to church, but also how far it reaches; I have had people watch and comment from India and the UAE!
Thank you for the reflections that you are putting out each week. We have started a new Facebook group called Thoughts from the Orchard, and I am doing a virtual Communion each Sunday from my home. I was able to use your material as part of the first one and it had a great response.
