REV ELIZABETH CLARK
Rev Elizabeth Clark has 15 years experience in rural circuits across North Yorkshire and feels passionately about rural churches.
In the Methodist church Elizabeth’s post sits with the Discipleship and Learning Network and in the United Reformed Church is part of the Mission Team. The role of the National Rural Officer is:
- to support and encourage the mission and ministry of rural churches
- to advocate for rural churches within the denominations
- To be an advocate on rural issues within the churches and wider society
“Rural Churches can sometimes feel forgotten within their own traditions, and have an unspoken fear that ‘they want to close us down’. I see a need to be an advocate for small churches so that they can feel valued and confident. I hope to challenge and encourage small congregations and rural clergy to find new ways of working that are collaborative and ecumenical.”
