This week’s prayer for rural communities, charities, and those who serve them.

Loving and generous God,
We come before You with gratitude for the beauty and richness of the rural world—the fields and farms, the villages and churches, the people and traditions that shape our land.
We pray for those who work the land, tend livestock, and steward creation. Strengthen them in times of uncertainty and bless them with all they need to flourish. May their work be valued and their voices heard.
We lift before You the work of The Arthur Rank Centre and all rural charities—those who stand alongside farmers, churches, and communities, offering support, training, and encouragement. We give thanks for agricultural chaplaincies, rural food banks, environmental charities, and all who serve with compassion. Lord, sustain them in their mission, grant them wisdom in their decisions, and provide the resources they need to continue their vital work.
We pray for all who have a heart for rural communities—church leaders, volunteers, funders, and policymakers. May they be guided by Your Spirit to listen well, act justly, and bring hope where it is needed most.
In a time of challenge and change, may Your Church be a place of welcome, a source of support, and a light in rural places.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.

Praying for those who farm and the care of animals

Heavenly Father,
We lift before You all those who farm the land and care for the animals You have entrusted to them. In this season of hardship, where many have lost livestock to disease, we ask for Your mercy and peace.
Lord, we remember those who have lost not just animals, but companions they love and care for, each one known by name. We pray that You comfort their hearts, for the pain of loss is real when an animal is more than just a product, but a cherished part of their lives.
Grant them strength and courage in this difficult time, knowing that You see their sorrow and are near to the broken-hearted. We ask for healing for the land and the animals, and wisdom for those who work to combat these diseases and provide care.
May Your grace guide the scientists, veterinarians, and agricultural workers as they seek solutions. We pray for restoration, not only of the land but also of hope in the hearts of those who care for it.
Lord, provide for farmers in ways that are beyond our understanding, and help them rebuild with hope. May they always feel Your presence, knowing that You are the Good Shepherd, watching over all Your creation.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Weekly Prayer: Strength for the Journey

Loving God,
We thank you for the beauty of our rural communities, for fields that grow food and for hands that labour.
Be with all who work the land today and through this season, in sunshine and in storm, in abundance and in struggle.
We thank you for our churches that stand as places of welcome and warmth.
In times of challenge and change, may they continue in their mission—offering hope, hospitality, and the good news of your love to all.
Bless those who lead and serve, often with few resources but great faith.
As the Anglican Church gathers for Synod, grant wisdom, courage, and a spirit of unity. May their decisions reflect your justice and mercy, strengthening the Church for the work ahead.
Strengthen the weary, comfort the burdened, and guide us all to be signs of your presence.
May we open our doors to those in need, our hearts to those who feel alone, and our prayers to the One who sustains all things.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It was wonderful to spend time in Cheshire meeting new friends and old, whilst focusing upon Rural poverty and isolation.
Thank you Bishop Mark for your welcome, and to Transforming Lives Together for hosting the day in Chelford Village Hall.
Great to hear from Lauren at RABI, and see FCN, Cheshire Ag Chaplaincy, Church Urban Fund and other great rural and farmer focused charities.
